Resource for new web designers

Webmaster or web designer… the thin line

To avoid confusion later, you should inform your client of the difference between a web master and a web designer:

A web master is responsible for the content of the site and social media channels. He is part of the PR team and has some very basic knowledge of web design.

The web designer creates the website and is responsible for the good technical functioning.

Decide for yourself which tasks you want to do. Maybe you want to do both; it’s up to you. Keep in mind that a web master can be a full-time job for one big client, and in my opinion the job is better served by an employee within the client’s company rather than an external web designer.

A web designer will also set up email tools like Mailchimp if necessary, create one or more templates, send out emails, and keep address lists up-to-date. Creating emails based on the templates, sending them, out and monitoring the results are the responsibility of the web master.

Agree with your client about who will do what before starting development.
